The whole concept of smartphones with e-ink display have been circulating around for some time and it’s been cooking for a while. The e-ink display is a battery-frugal and always-on component that can extend the battery life. The idea is that users don’t have to wake the main screen up, because the e-ink display can show standard notifications, time, text messages and others.

The 4.3-inch (1280 x 720) LCD display is something that’s fairly common on mid-range devices. Other components are 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1800mAh battery, 13Mp rear-facing camera and 2GB of RAM.

The e-ink display also measures 4.3-inch in size and it looks like any good old monochrome display. Other than much reduced power consumption, the display is also very readable under direct sunlight. It could automatically refresh with our messages and notifications. It’s also possible to regularly show latest Twitter stream with custom apps. The screen has a capacitive touch area for gesture controls, supports for 16 scales of gray and 360 x 640 pixels resolution.
