Xiomi Unveils Two Powerful, Affordable Smartphones
Chinese phone makers often surprise us with superlatives; thinnest smartphones were previously bred in the country and now Xiaomi announces the MI2, the first smartphone to boast the most powerful chipset to date, the quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064. The phone packs 4.3” 720p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and 2000mAh battery. Its 8Mp rear-facing camera is built around the BSI (backside-illumination) 2nd generation technology with 27mm wide-angle lens, F2.0 aperture and a burst mode of 8 shots per second. The MI2 will be equipped with a Siri-like virtual assistant and amazingly the whole package is priced only at $313 (2000 Chinese yuan).
Xiaomi also unveils an upgrade of the original MI1, with the same dual-core processor, clocked slightly higher at 1.7GHz. The MI1S offers a camera with BSI 2nd generation technology and F2.0 aperture. The phone will be sold for only $235 (1500 Chinese yuan).
