Windows Phones 8 Is Being Tested on Lumia 800 and Lumia 610
The Windows 8 will be released later this year and already, some reports revealed that it is being tested on the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 610. The test is performed by Microsoft in the US and it is also interesting to note that the company is also testing the new OS on an unreleased phone.
If the new OS can work properly on the Lumia 800, it’s easy suspect that we might eventually see an update for the device. However, other reports suggested that it’s unlikely to happen, though. Due to hardware limitation, first generation of Windows Phone 7 models will be left out. Windows Phone 8 introduces a few features that require faster processor, which is currently being used by the last batch of Mango devices, such as the Lumia 900. Hopefully, Microsoft will push the new version as far as it can, even if it means Microsoft needs to leave early adopters of Windows Phone 7 in the cold.
Windows Phones 8 will bring new enhancements that make Nokia phones can compete better with Android and iOS devices:
- Support for higher screen resolution
- Support for multi-core processors
- Support for NFC
- Better integration of Skype and SkyDrive
- 128-bit Bitlocker encryption
- Many others
The source also revealed that testers also experienced numerous app compatibility issues, but there should be more than enough time for developers to get any issue ironed out.
