The Xperia ZR is Launched on Sony’s Website
A few weeks ago, word leaked about a waterproof smartphone, the Sony XPeria ZR. Like many rugged handsets in the market, it should be able to withstand 30 minutes of submersion in water. The Japanese company has published the introduction video to the Xperia ZR. It appears, leaked hardware specs we learned last month are also pretty much spot on.
The processor is a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, Adreno 320 GPU, 8GB internal storage, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1) OS and 4.55” 720p display, which offers 323ppi of pixel density. The 13Mp rear-facing camera includes Exmor RS sensor and various settings, such as 10fps burst mode at 9Mp resolution.
Durability is clearly the real attraction of Xperia ZR, the 140 grams device is compliant with standards for water and dust resistance, specifically IP58 and IP55.
While it is not indicated on Sony’s webpage, the battery is rumored to have a capacity of 2300mAh. 4G LTE support is available, but Sony doesn’t tell us anything which frequency bands the phone uses.
