The Next iPhone Could be The Thinnest Ever
Apple’s next smartphone could be thinnest one yet, thanks to the highly advanced in-cell touch panel. Last week, rumors surfaced about the possible use of the display technology on the next iteration of Apple’s phone. A number of analysts have issued reports supporting the rumor and they note that the technology may shave off nearly 0.5 millimeter off from an iPhone design using current display technology.
In addition, Apple is rumored to use a glass back instead of metal to further reduce the thickness of the phone by nearly 1 mm. When these technologies are implemented properly, the next iPhone could measure only at 7.09 millimeters, compared to the iPhone 4S with 9.3 millimeters thickness. In addition, the technology might allow for favorable changes in supply chain, reducing the overall production cost by 10 to 20 percent.
