Teardown Shows Samsung Galaxy S3 Has iPhone 4S Camera Sensor
In collaboration with Chipworks, iFixit tears down the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S3a. Samsung’s latest high-end handset comes with various innovative features like S Voice, Social Tag, S Beam, Direct Call, Smart Alert and Smart Stay. In terms of specs, the phone features an Exynos 4 quad-core processor, a huge 4.8” Super-AMOLED display, 8Mp rear-facing camera and 2100 mAh Li-Ion battery. The phone model comes in three different internal storage options: 16, 32 and 64 GB.
The teardown suggests a type of rear-facing back-illuminated camera sensor, which is similar to the one used in the iPhone 4S. The Galaxy S3 features a fast 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, which is manufactured based on the 32nm process. Another interesting finding is a glass cover that’s fused to the display. It means you need to shell a huge amount of money when you need to replace the glass cover.
Ifixit also confirms the inclusion of the 2100mAh Li-Ion battery, which holds 7.98Wh or equal to 7560 Coulombs of charge.
