Sony Xperia Ion is Coming to AT&T
AT&T officially confirmed the arrival of the Xperia Ion into its network, which is also Sony’s first 4G LTE smartphone. The phone will cost $99.99 and it will hit stores at June 24. Since the Ion will run Gingerbread (Android 2.3), instead of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0, it won’t impress any hard-core Android fan. The Sony Xperia U, Xperia S and Xperia P will be entering the US market; and the Xperia Ion doesn’t seem to share the genetics of its flashier brethrens. Unlike NXT handsets, the Ion doesn’t have a bar that glows when the system brings out alerts. The Xperia Ion is essentially a glossy block of black plastic, instead of the silver-and-black color scheme.
Even so, the Xperia Ion is still no ordinary mid-range smartphone, with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 4.6” 720p HD LCD display, 12 Mp rear-facing camera, 16GB of onboard storage and 4G LTE connectivity. It is also important to note that the Xperia Ion is billed as a Sony Playstation-certified device, which is capable of running Sony Playstation Vita and PSP titles.
