Sony Will Release Android 4.0 Update to its Tablets
Sony confirmed recently that it plans to update all Sony tablets in all regions over the air, which brings them all to Android 4.0. The announcement has been released months ago but until now, we didn’t get a definite timeline. Sony Tablets already received the Ice Cream Sandwich update in the US, but unfortunately users located in Asia and Japan have been left with the less capable and older Android 3.2.1 (Honeycomb).
The Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) adds updates such as enhanced browser, updated gallery viewer with access to SD card, various security enhancements, panoramic camera mode and a host of other features. Sony is hoping that the release of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) will minimize the fragmentation issue in its lineup. Sony offers two latest tablets, the Tablet P and Tablet S. Both are powered by the same 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. However, the former supports the 4G (LTE) data connectivity.
