Skype Version 1.0 for Windows Phone is Released
The first stable release, version 1.0, of Skype has been released for Windows Phone, thus fulfilling Microsoft’s promise at MWC earlier this year, to move the popular app out of beta. The latest version allows users to search and add contacts on Skype. Other enhancements are quicker boot time, voice call to landline numbers and numerous bug fixes. Unfortunately, it is still not possible to receive call when the app isn’t running in the background. Microsoft acknowledged this drawback and it is caused by limitations within the Skype technology and current versions of Windows Phone. Hopefully, the feature will be available on the Windows Phone 8. In order to gain some footing over iPhone and Android smartphones, Microsoft should use this functionality as one of the key selling points.
