Samsung will Release Galaxy SIII with 2GB of RAM in Japan
The Samsung Galaxy SIII was unveiled earlier this month and if you thought it was pretty impressive, Japanese consumers may get something even better. Apparently, Samsung will deliver a version with double the amount of RAM. The handset has a model number SC-06D and it will land on NTT DoCoMo’s network in June. Other bits of details should be the same, such as the Exynos quad-core processor, 8Mp rear-facing camera and 32GB of onboard storage.
This won’t come as a big surprise because Japanese consumers often use devices with high-end specifications. To have Samsung bumps the RAM amount up is not something groundbreaking, nor is the fact that Samsung Galaxy SIII will be arriving in different flavors, such as the 4G LTE variant for the US market. However, it is widely accepted that an extra amount of RAM will offer almost no effect on performance if hardware utilization is low. Benefits would be more apparent with heavy 3D gaming and intense multitasking.
