Samsung Releases the Affordable REX series
Despite their significantly dwindling market share, feature phones are still preferred by many consumers. The Samsung REX series offers an improved platform for “smart feature phones”, with design elements we typically find one entry-level smartphones.
The Samsung REX 60 is the most affordable model with 2.8” resistive touchscreen display and 1.2Mp rear-facing camera. The Samsung REX 70 has a 3” QVGA capacitive display, 2Mp rear-facing camera, Bluetooth, WiFi and 1000mAh battery. Samsung REX 80 is similar with the REX 70, except for the 3Mp rear-facing camera.
The Samsung REX 90 has a larger 3.5” HVGA display, 3.2Mp rear-facing camera, Bluetooth, WiFi and 1000mAh battery. The TouchWiz UI offers the all-familiar interface design, which can introduce feature phones users to Samsung’s huge Galaxy lineup. There’s only EDGE data connectivity and limited internal storage capacity, which is compensated by the microSD card slot. Their Java-based software isn’t a full-fledged smartphone platform, but users can still install third-party Java apps.
