Qualcomm Demonstrates the Snapdragon 400 Processor
Finally, we can see the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor demonstrates its prowess both in videos and pictures. The chip maker has recently shown that its new dual-core platform can be more efficient and faster than earlier quad-core mobile hardware in the market. Qualcomm doesn’t tell us which quad-core SoC claimed to be less powerful than the Snapdragon 400, but we could easily suspect that it is aimed towards the Nvidia Tegra 3.
The Snapdragon 400 along with its bigger brothers the Snapdragon 600 and 800 represent Qualcomm’s new generation. The company designates the more affordable Snapdragon 400 SoC to power mid-range smartphones released in 2013. The showcased chip model is clocked at 1.2GHz and comes with Adreno 305 GPU.
Overall, the enhanced computing and graphical capabilities of the Snapdragon 400 allow the chip to circle around current mid-range processors, so users should get fluid multimedia and gaming performance. While it’s not clear what type of smartphone used for the demonstration, it is possible that Qualcomm simply disassembled an existing smartphone model and replaced the SoC with Snapdragon 400.
