Oppo Confirms the R829 Smartphone
A representative from Oppo has confirmed that existence of the R829, which is essentially a miniaturized version of the Oppo Find 5. The phone sports a 4.5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 8Mp rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM ad it will carry a rather reasonable price tag of $330 or CNY 2000.
Unfortunately, the company has no plan for an international distribution and it could be aimed only for the Chinese market. While the phone doesn’t have impressive hardware configuration, it still has an appealing pricing. The image of R829 was first spotted on the website of a Twitter-equivalent in China, the Weibo. Initially, many thought that the R829 is the Find 7.
The rear cover of R829 has a holographic finish and it’s clearly listed as “coming soon”. But it remains to be seen how soon Oppo will actually launch the device. While the Oppo N1 is equipped with the rather extravagant swivel camera, the R829 has a standard design with the camera on the back and LED flash. It seems that the smartphone comes with a metal frame that hugs its profile. This leads some people to believe that the R829 is a high-end, premium device.
