Nvidia Tegra 4 Appears on Benchmark Result
It appears someone with an access to an Nvidia Tegra 4 evaluation unit decided to take the new hardware platform for a spin. It’s a good thing to see that the Tegra 4 delivers a rather promising result through the GLBenchmark database. The tested unit seems to be the Dalmore, one of two evaluation boards made available to select developers. It comes preinstalled with Jelly Bean (Android 4.2.1) and uses a 1920 x 1128 display of an unknown size. The new quad-core processor ran at 1.8GHz during the benchmarking process.
The Tegra 4 managed to achieve good scores, but still lagged behind the A6X SoC used by the iPad 4. Apple’s latest tablet achieved 49.6fps on Egypt HD Offscreen, while the Tegra 4 got only 32.6fps. It should be noted that the Tegra 4 SoC was not fitted inside a model bound to arrive into the market. Consequently, there were no optimizations that allow the processor to reach peak performance.
