Nvidia Releases An Impressive Mobile Processor Roadmap
Nvidia has revealed its new roadmap showing impressive view of its future mobile processor model. The Taiwanese company claims that its future mobile chip slated for release in 2015 will be 100 times faster than the previous Tegra 2 chips.
Obviously, this roadmap is simply a marketing tool and it would be preferable for the company to use inflated numbers by comparing future models with outdated models. Comparisons with Nvidia Tegra 3 and Tegra 4 quad-core models will yield much smaller results. Again, we should take this roadmap with a bucketful of salt.
The older roadmap promised the Kal-El (Tegra 3) for release in 2011 and Wayne (Tegra 4) for 2012; and they arrived about one year late. The new Parker processor is claimed to come in 2015 and we shouldn’t be surprised to see real-world implementation delayed to 2016 or beyond.
The company also offered little details on future GPU upgrades, the Parker will use “Volta” graphics solution with stacked memory and 3D transistors for better performance.
