Moto G (2014) is the First Smartphone With Android 5.0 Lollipop
Multiple manufacturers are racing to update their high-end models with the new Lollipop Android 5.0 OS. However, it appears that the first device that gets the update is the humble Moto G. The OTA update is available for the unlocked version of the phone starting from today. Note that it may take awhile before the same update arrive to carrier-issued models.
Motorola has just released the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the 2013 model of Moto G and we don’t know when the older model will also get the new update. Motorola regularly delivers stock Android experience on its smartphone models. In this case, these models don’t get additional skins.
The company includes only a few experience-enhancing solutions and apps. This is the reason why Motorola is able to quickly release the update. Still, it is rather strange that the company decides to deliver update for its low-ranger first. Nonetheless, the Moto G (2014) is a reasonably equipped model in the low-cost category.
The size of update is 386MB. It may require stable WiFi connection and full battery charge to complete the update process.
