Lumia 900 Survives the Nail and Hammer Test
Many reviewers gave the Nokia Lumia 900 positive reviews for its display quality; indeed, some reported better readability under the sunlight compared to the Apple iPhone 4S. Now, there is a proof that the display is more than just pretty. Two Nokia engineers decided to hammer a nail onto the Lumia 900’s display. After some pounding, the screen continues to work properly. In the second test, the handset’s display is used to pound a nail into a piece of wood.
Obviously, it is not recommended for any owner to subject their handset with these kinds of treatment. Still, it shows that the Lumia 900 is rugged device. The test was inspired by a video of Sonim phone that went through similar torture test. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses the Corning Gorilla Glass, an alkali-aluminosilicate material designed to be damage-resistant, lightweight and thin. Experts said that it is about thirty times harder than plastic and comparable in strength to sapphire. The Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is expected to arrive soon; it has the same endurance to the predecessor, but 20 percent thinner and with greater touch sensitivity.
