LG Electronics Shows Three New Panels
LG Electronics is similar to Samsung in many ways. It comes from South Korea and also releases a diverse array of consumer electronics products ranging from smartphone to home appliances. Like Samsung, LG has ample research capability in display technologies, with Apple as one of its significant clients.
LG is taking full advantage of the CES 2013 by releasing three new panels for mobile devices. The first is a 5.5” 1080p display, which delivers 400ppi of pixel density. We can easily sense that the company is gearing up for a new huge superphone/phablet. Next up is a 7” (1200 x 1920), which may eventually make its way to more powerful 7” tablets.
With the significant popularity of 7” tablet segment, the market could be ready for high-one models. The last panel model showed was a 12.9” (2560 x 1700) display, which is usable for very large tablets or small ultrabooks. It seems to offer a sharpness level equal to the 15” MacBook Pro with Retina Display (2880 x 1800) screen.
