iPhone 7 Could be Could be Thinner
Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities revealed recently that the iPhone 7 could be the Slimmest iPhone model yet, between 6mm and 6.5mm. It will be comparable to the latest iPod Touch model, currently at 6.1mm thick. As comparison, the iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick, while the iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1mm thick. It is also stated that Apple will still use the Force Touch technology which has been applied on earlier iPhone model.
Kuo believes that Apple iPhones will still use the in-cell touch panel technology, instead of the newer glass-on-glass implementation. The In-cell panels are easier to produce and won’t cause bottleneck issues in the production line. It is also believed that it would take a while before we see an iPhone model with 4k resolution display.
The in-cells technology still allows Apple to produce a slim Apple iPhone model without causing too much problems in the production line. On the other hand, the glass-on-glass technology allows for the elimination of bezels, but the company will only able to produce a more limited number of panels. So, if Kuo is accurate with its slim iPhone 7 claim, it is more sensible for Apple to keep implementing in-cell technology.
