Huawei Ascend P2 Will Have Octa-Core Processor and Interesting Price Tag
Huawei has distributed invitations for its own press event to be held on February 24 at MWC 2013, The company will be teasing attendee about new products, possibilities and goals. If recent rumors are to be believed, the company will treat us with the Ascend P2 with its octa-core processor. The company also managed to deliver the phone with a slim body.
While little is known about Huawei’s octa-core CPU, there’s a possibility that it is based on ARM big.LITTLE architecture. The platform combines four high-performance Cortex A15 cores with four energy efficient Cortex A7 cores. This setup has also been used by Samsung with its Exynos 5 Octa processor.
In the end of 2012, Huawei has grabbed the third position in largest smartphone makers list after Samsung and Apple. The company has had a quite memorable CES showing in January and it grabbed the headlines with its Ascend Mate and Ascend D2. Another interesting bit of detail is that the phone will be sold at below $500, which is quite cheap for an octa-core smartphone.
