HTC and Samsung Are Planning to Release Tizen Devices
In recent days, there are additional details revealed on Tizen, the in-house mobile platform developed by Samsung and Intel. HTC is rumored to have an interest on the new operating system and a HTC smartphone with Tizen embedded may be available soon. This development follows Samsung’s announcement on a prototype that will run Tizen.
With two major players in the industry, Samsung and HTC, on lock for Tizen-powered devices, we may safely expect for a major release, perhaps equal to the level of Windows Phone implementation
Digitimes also told us that not only Samsung and HTC are interested in using the new mobile OS, but Asus and Acer as well. The latter two Taiwanese companies are being tipped recently as planning to release Tizen handsets in Q2 2012. This wouldn’t be much of a surprise as they have been apt in releasing numerous devices running Android OS. Carriers are also ramping up for the new OS, with Orange, NTT DoCoMo, SK Telecom, Vodafone, Telefonica, Panasonic, NEC and others have joined the Tizen Association.
