Firefox OS-powered Keon and Peak Will Soon Be Released
Keon and Peak, two early smartphone models running Mozilla’s open source Firefox OS may arrive in Spain within days. Like Android, Firefox OS is also based on Linux with a number of noteworthy features including HTML5-based apps that can communicate with hardware. The Peak costs £127 and the more affordable Keon at £77.58.
Both phones are not aimed to compete with the iPhone and Android handsets, but instead, they are to assist feature phone owners to transition to smartphones. These devices are delivered off-contract anywhere around the world, but prices may vary due to differences in shipping charges.
The Keon offers 1GHz Qualcomm single-core processor, 512MB of RAM. 4GB of internal storage, 3.5” HVGA display, microSD card slot and 1580mAh battery. The more powerful Peak sports 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 8225 dual-core processor, 4.3” qHD IPS display, 2Mp front facing camera, 8Mp rear facing camera with LED flash, microSD card slot, microUSB port and 1,800mAh battery. Its connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and HSPA.
