Chinese Consumers Will Get a Samsung Flip Smartphone
In the Android environment, consumers are used to see these devices in full touchscreen design or smaller touchscreen with slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard. If you have been using mobile phone for more than a decade, you might miss the day of carrying a compact flip phone. But now, as far as the Chinese smartphone market is concerned, Samsung is planning to release something a bit unusual. The South Korean company will be releasing a flip phone with very familiar design, one screen on the inside and another on the outside. Both displays are 3.5” with WVGA (800 x 480) resolution.
Under the hood, the phone seems to offer mid-range hardware configuration with 1,2GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The phone will feature standard connectivity options such as A-GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and HSPA, along with 1,3Mp front-facing snapper and a 5Mp rear-facing camera. It will run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), but there’s no word on release date and pricing.
